Sole F80 Treadmill Review

This is the latest version of the Sole F80 treadmill which builds upon the solid reputation of this popular model. The improvements for this new version include Bluetooth capability with smart devices.

This is a “Space Saver” or folding treadmill which incorporates a shock-assisted manual folding design that folds up and out of the way when you have completed your workout session. When your ready to workout again it can be softly dropped back into place and it’s ready for use.

The treadmill is ready to use with a total of 10 workouts. These programs comprise of 6 pre-set, 2 User Defined and 2 Heart Rate Control programs.

There are handrail mounted toggle switches, making it easier to control the speed and incline and a heart rate control feature that allows you to exercise within your optimal training zone. A built in sound system allows for the connection of an iPOD or MP3 player.

The treadmill is endorsed by a lifetime warranty on the frame, motor, and deck with 5 yrs on the electronics and 2 years in home labor.

Lets look at some of the features :
… drive motor

The treadmill utilizes a smooth and powerful 3.5 HP Continuous Duty Motor which has been designed for a long life. This is an industrial quality motor with a large diameter, all-steel zinc coated, balanced flywheel which results in a vibration walking surface.

The flywheel assists the motor in running cooler and with smaller currents being drawn which helps extend motor life. Another benefit is allowing for a low start speed of 0.5 MPH.

… handrail controls

Toggle switches have been built in to the handrail to enable the user to adjust both the the speed and incline. Using these handrail mounted switches allows the user to make the necessary adjustments without having to reach forward to press buttons on the control console and possibly disrupt their stride.
… spacious tread belt

This model incorporates a long (60″) and wide (22″) wide running belt. Some treadmills in this price range have narrower or shorter belts. Having a longer tread belt provides more room which is an advantage for taller users, with longer than average stride lengths or if you intend to use the treadmill for running.
… LCD display

This treadmill has a large (9″) back-lit LCD display. This attractive display will show Speed, Incline, Time, Distance Traveled, Calories, Pulse and Pace. Additionally, there is a 1/4 mile track feature and a Peak and Valley graph for different programs.

… message board system

This model has an integrated message board feature. In essence this feature consists of scrolling messages directed at the user in order to guide them through the workout. You can think of the message board just like having an instructor standing next to you advising you on every feature of the treadmill’s operation. The message board will also review your entire workout after you have completed your workout so that you can see your progress.

The conveniently positioned Hand Grip Pulse Monitors located on the handlebars are supplemented by the optional chest strap which provides the advantage of taking readings of your heart rate and feeding them back to the treadmill console by wireless telemetry.

When this program is selected the “Heart Rate Control” feature of this treadmill automatically adjusts the intensity of your workout in accordance with your heart rate which is fed back via the grip pulse monitor or via the optional wireless telemetry strap so that you are always in the optimum target fitness zone.
… iPOD connection

In order to keep you entertained the treadmill comes with an in built sound system. Integrated into the treadmill’s console, this sound system allows you to plug your iPOD, or MP3 Player, into auxiliary input jack and listen to your music collection through the sound system. The iPOD can rest in the accessory tray so that it is within easy reach.

… Bluetooth capable

This feature allows the transfer of workout data from the treadmill to a smart device such as a phone or tablet via a Bluetooth connection. Using the free Sole app, users can download and track their data or transfer it to the Fitbit, Record, Mapmyrun, or Apple Health apps.

This is a “space saver” or folding treadmill which means that when you have finished your workout it can be folded into a near vertical position where it will then occupy a lot less space.

The folding feature is fitted with a pneumatic shock-assist lift allowing you to gently tilt the deck into position and wheel it away for storage. When you want to use the treadmill it can be softly dropped back into place and it’s ready to go.

Integral transport wheels are attached to the base of the frame. With the treadmill folded up into it’s upright storage position the treadmill can then be wheeled away to a convenient storage location.
