ProForm PRO 4500 Treadmill
The mid-level model in the PRO range, the ProForm PRO 4500 adds a larger motor, more workouts, a larger display, and a built-in iFIT module to the specification offered by the less expensive PRO 2000 model.
This model is iFIT enabled. This means that there is an iFIT module already fitted inside the control console. This technology allows the user to walk/jog/run tracks along routes generated by Google maps that simulate the terrain of the trail you are following.
There are 38 workouts, split into four functional groups. These comprise Calorie Burn workouts, Intensity workouts, Speed workouts, Incline workouts, and iFIT demo workouts. All of the workout data is presented on a 10″ full-color, touch screen.
The running deck has the ability to decline, which has the benefit of activating different muscles by walking downhill. This is claimed to burn more calories than walking on a flat surface and stimulate more muscles for faster results.
The product is underwritten by a lifetime frame and motor warranty, 5 years parts warranty, and 2 years labor warranty.
It is available at a discounted price from ProForm Fitness
In order to stay motivated when using a treadmill and achieve your fitness goals, it is important to have a variety of preset programs. The treadmill has a varied selection of 38 programs split into four functional groups.
The four groups consist of Calorie workouts, Intensity workouts, Speed workouts, Incline workouts, and iFIT demo workouts. Each workout has been designed by a certified personal trainer.
The workout programs take control of the treadmill and automatically adjust the speed and incline, allowing you to concentrate on working out. Speed, incline, and time length of each workout are predetermined.
These 38 workout programs showcase everything this treadmill is capable of and provide the necessary direction and impetus for you to achieve your fitness goals.
Driving this treadmill is a powerful 4.2 CHP motor. This unit makes use of high-grade wiring, insulation, and a thermal cut-off switch. Additionally, through the use of high-end, commercial bearings and brushes, this motor delivers the longest, most powerful drive possible.
Exercising on a treadmill is a great way to keep fit, but running or walking on some treadmills can result in wear and tear to your joints. The ProShox cushioning system employed on this treadmill helps to reduce the impact on your joints and delivers a more comfortable running surface.
This treadmill is iFIT enabled. In essence, this is a wireless connection between the Internet and the treadmill. The iFIT feature allows you to experience trails all over the globe just as if you were running outside.
iFIT enables you to customize your own fitness program, receive automatic workout downloads, manage your profile online, and work out with Jillian Michaels. You can even add the thrill of competition to your workout with 5k races against your Facebook friends.
This feature requires a home wireless internet connection and a subscription to iFIT.com, which is available as an optional extra.
The treadmill comes equipped with “QuickSpeed” control. This means that you can easily jump to any speed within the range 0 to 12 MPH with one touch at any time during your workout. You can decrease your speed immediately when you are tired and need a break or increase it instantly for a challenging burst.
The treadmill is also equipped with “Quick Incline” control. This allows you to electronically change the degree of slope up or down throughout your workout from the control panel. The slope of the incline can be adjusted within the range 0 to 15 deg. You can simulate running uphill and add both challenge and variety to your exercise session.
In addition to the positive inclination, the deck is also able to decline to -3%. This feature is usually only found on more expensive treadmills and has the benefit of activating different muscles by walking at a decline. This is claimed to burn more calories than walking on a flat surface and stimulate more muscles for faster results.
Heart Rate Monitor
The treadmill is equipped with a dual grip heart rate monitor. The built-in precision sensors allow you to quickly and accurately monitor your heart rate. Simply grip the built-in sensors to quickly and accurately monitor your heart rate, stay within your optimum training zone, and burn more fat.
The treadmill is also supplied with a wireless chest strap that transmits your heart rate information to the console without the need to grip the contact sensors when running, for example.
The treadmill features a universal iPOD port. You can now enjoy your workout while you play your favorite music through the built-in “Intermix Acoustics 3.0 EQ” sound system. The system delivers improved clarity while reproducing a wide range of audio frequencies. Simply plug in, press play, and listen to your favorite sounds while you exercise.
Fold and Store
This is a “space saver” model, which means that when not in use, the treadmill can be folded into a near upright position where it will then occupy a lot smaller floor area.
The folding mechanism also incorporates an “easy lift” system which uses a hydraulic shock that slowly lowers the deck into place ready for use or assists in raising it to its stored position.
With the deck raised into its upright stored position, the deck automatically locks into place.
