NordicTrack C 970 Pro Treadmill Review

The NordicTrack C 970 PRO treadmill is a popular, mid priced model powered by a 3.25 CHP Commercial DurX motor, and incorporating the “FlexSelect” adjustable cushioning system.

The treadmill has a total of 32 workout programs which have been designed by a certified personal trainer and which automatically adjust the incline and speed of the treadmill. The workouts target either calorie-burning, incline, speed or intensity goals.

The console incorporates a back lit display. This large, easy-to-read display tracks your speed, time, distance, pulse and calories burned. The console also incorporates dual workout cooling fans, an iPOD compatible music port and an adjustable tablet holder.

This model is iFIT enabled. A Bluetooth device such as a tablet can be connected to access the iFIT account to add extra functionality, and engage your interest. This feature requires a home, wireless internet connection and subscription to iFIT.com available separately.

The product is underwritten by a warranty that includes a lifetime cover on the motor and frame, with 3 years of parts and 1 year labor.

Workout programs

Having a good variety of workout programs will help keep you motivated and make it easier to achieve your fitness goals. To this end this treadmill has been built with a total of 32 training workouts.

Each workout program has been designed by a certified personal trainer and will automatically adjust the incline and speed of your treadmill during the course of your workout. Each workout program focuses on an aerobic, weight loss or performance goal.

iFIT enabled

This treadmill is iFIT enabled. A Bluetooth device such as a tablet can be connected in order to access an iFIT account.

Customized workouts, Google Map generated routes and automatic stats tracking add extra functionality and engage the user’s interest.

It should be noted that this feature requires a home, wireless internet connection and membership to iFIT.com which is sold separately.

Drive motor

A 3.25 CHP DurX commercial motor is used to drive the unit. The motor itself uses preventative engineering in order to keep you safer. This includes the use of high-grade wiring and insulation ratings, a thermal cut-off switch and a stringent UL certification process.

The DurX Commercial Pro Motor is also dynamically spin-balanced and rigorously tested for matchless performance in vibration and noise, making it both smooth and quiet in operation.

Back lit display

The console has a display that is equipped with a large (7inch), easy-to-read back lit display that tracks all your important workout data including speed, time, distance, pulse and calories burned. Being able to access this data on the fly provides valuable feedback and keeps you engaged in the workout.

Speed adjustment

A “1-Touch” system is used to control speed. Instead of having to scroll through various options, the 1-Touch system allows you to instantly change the speed of the treadmill between 0 to 12 MPH with the single touch of a button. You can decrease your speed immediately when you need a rest, or increase it instantly for a challenging workout.

Incline adjustment

The “1-Touch” control technology is also used in order to change the incline setting. A single touch of a button will allow the user to adjust the angle of the running deck to any value they desire between 0 deg. to 15 deg. of grade.

Adjustable cushioning

The “FlexSelect” cushioning system allows the user to choose between either a cushioned or firm deck.

By turning the adjuster one half turn the user can enjoy the superior impact reduction provided by this cushioning system. Alternatively, by turning the adjuster back results in a running surface that is akin to running on the road.

Heart rate monitor

A club-design “CardioGrip” heart rate monitor provides information on the your pulse rate. Sensors in the handlebars relay feedback via the display that helps you to make the most out of every workout.

Monitoring your heart rate ensures that you’re always in the right training zone for your goals. You can get a more effective workout, burn more fat, and improve your cardiovascular health.

Dual cooling fans

Dual “AutoBreeze” workout fans are mounted into the console. These are quiet in operation and automatically change the airflow to match your workout speed.

If you prefer, you can select one of several fixed speed settings. This innovative technology will help you find the right temperature so you can stay cool and comfortable during your workout.

iPOD connection

This model features a universal iPOD dock. You can enjoy your workout while you play your favorite music through the built-in sound system.

The compatible music port allows you to plug in your iPOD, or MP3 Player and play your music through the “Intermix Acoustics” sound system, featuring high-excursion drivers.

Tablet computer holder

This treadmill includes a tablet computer holder which is attached to the control console and has been designed for use with most full-size tablets.

The holder keeps your tablet secure and in close proximity so that you can access any online training tools or entertainment.

Safety key

A safety key and lanyard is provided with the treadmill. In order for the treadmill to be operational the key must be present in the control console. This means that with the key withdrawn the treadmill cannot be operated by unauthorized users such as small children.

The safety key has a lanyard with a small plastic clip attached to one end which can be clipped onto the users clothing. If the user were to accidentally trip or fall while on the treadmill the key is pulled away from the console causing the treadmill’s walking belt to slow to a stop.

Folding frame

Treadmills can take up a fair amount of room and storing them can be a problem. This treadmill goes some way to overcoming this issue with it’s “space saver” technology.

This facility allows you to fold the treadmill into an upright position after your workout where it will then occupy a lot smaller floor area. The folding of the heavy-duty deck is made easier with the “Easy Lift Assist” technology which is built into the folding mechanism.
