The shock absorption on the Smooth 8.35 treadmill is provided by the “Im-Pression” cushioning system that has been designed to reduce the impact of walking and running.
This is a “space saver” design which means that it can be folded into an upright position where it occupies less space. It has a spacious 20″ x 60″ tread belt that is driven by a powerful 3.5 CHP motor.
There are is a huge variety of 30 workout programs that are divided into 5 functional groups. These consist of 1 Manual program, 8 Incline programs, 8 Speed / Incline programs, 4 Heart Rate Control programs, 4 Customizable programs and a Fitness test.
The console houses a built in deluxe sound system that enables you to hook up an iPOD or MP3 player hear your music selection played through the speakers mounted in the console.

Workout programs
This model is pre-loded with 30 challenging workout programs that are divided into 5 different functional groups:
First there is a Manual Program that allows you to change the speed and incline to your preference during the workout.
Secondly, there are 8 Incline Programs that automatically change the incline of the running deck throughout the workout.
Next there are 8 Speed Programs that automatically modifies the speed of the running deck throughout the workout.
Then there are 5 Speed / Incline Programs that alters the speed and the incline of the running deck throughout the duration of the workout.
There are 4 Heart Rate Control Program that automatically modifies the speed and incline of the treadmill in sympathy with the user’s heart rate in to maintain a preset target level.
Also included are 4 Custom Programs which allow the user to make their own workout programs. These custom workouts can be stored and repeated as often as the user likes or modified in order to meet new fitness requirements.
The Smooth 8.35 also includes a fitness test which requires completion within a fixed time period. This enables the user to gain an insight into the improvements they have made during their workout sessions.
Back lit display
The control console has a “VivaClear” Blue, backLit LCD display. This shows all of the relevant workout data including: speed, time, distance, incline, calories burned, and heart rate control.
Virtual fitness trainer
This model incorporates the innovative “mySMOOTH” Virtual Fitness Trainer. By tracking the user’s progress, creating custom workout plans and offering tips and advice the Virtual Trainer provides the motivation to keep the user on track towards their fitness goals.
Wireless heart rate control
A heart rate control feature is provided which can be selected when required. The pulse reading is taken from the hand grip pulse monitors or wireless chest strap and is used by the treadmill’s computer to automatically adjust the intensity of your workouts.
This dynamic feedback loop provided by the heart rate control feature ensures that you are exercising in your target heart zone so that you are deriving the greatest benefit from your workout.
Hand rail controls
Conveniently placed toggle switches are built in to the handrail to enable the user to adjust both the the speed and incline. Using these handrail mounted switches allows the user to make the necessary adjustments without having to reach forward to press buttons on the control console and possibly disrupt their stride.
Drive motor
A powerful 3.5 CHP continuous duty motor is used to drive the belt. This unit has been designed for long life and whisper quiet operation. The motor benefits from an advanced Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) circuit board which is usually found only on expensive commercial models. The integral speed sensors work in tandem with the PWM circuitry to ensure smooth speed changes.
Shock absorption
This model is fitted with “Im-Pression” shock absorption cushioning. This innovative system provides a soft landing for the front foot and a firm push-off for the rear foot, reducing harmful impact on the joints and back.

Book / media shelf
An integral reading rack and media shelf is located on the control console. This conveniently mounted rack is ideal for holding books, magazines, newspapers, a cell phone or an MP3 player.
iPOD connection
A “Smooth Sound” deluxe audio system is incorporated into the control console. This system is iPOD or MP3 compatible, with the music being delivered via the in-built speaker system. You are thus able to experience your favorite music during your workout without being encumbered with headphone wires.
Workout cooling fan
A “Smooth-Air” workout cooling fan is incorporated into the control console. The fan will enable you to stay cool and fresh even during your most vigorous workout.
Safety key
A safety key and lanyard is provided with the treadmill. In order for the treadmill to be operational the key must be present in the control console. This means that with the key withdrawn the treadmill cannot be operated by unauthorized users such as small children.
The safety key has a lanyard with a small plastic clip attached to one end which can be clipped onto the users clothing. If the user were to accidentally trip or fall while on the treadmill the key is pulled away from the console causing the treadmill’s walking belt to slow to a stop.
Water bottle holder
A water bottle holder is built into the console. This is conveniently located and ideal for holding your drinks bottle or any other small accessory that you may require during your workout session.
User weight
When evaluating a suitable model it is important to remember that the weight of any anticipated user should not exceed the manufacturer’s weight limit. The maximum user weight limit of this model is 400 lbs.
Folding design
This is a “space saver” or folding treadmill which means that when you have finished your workout you can fold the running deck up into a near vertical where it will occupy less floor space.
Additionally the folding feature incorporates a “soft drop” folding mechanism. This is essentially a gas shock-assist lift system that allows you to gently tilt the deck of the treadmill into either it’s operational or storage position.
Transport wheels
The treadmill doesn’t have to be tied to one location within your house as the transport wheels mounted on the bottom of the frame allow it to me moved around. Simply raise the deck into it’s upright storage position and the treadmill can be rolled away to any suitable location within your home.

The Smooth 8.35 treadmill is underwritten by a lifetime warranty on the motor and a lifetime warranty on the frame. There is a 7 yrs warranty on all other parts (including electronics) and 2 yrs in home labor.
