Smooth Fitness 5.65 - both the Smooth 5.25 and 5.45 were extremely popular treadmills and this latest version of Smooth's entry level machine looks as though it will be just as popular.

The Smooth 5.65 is a lot more than a mere cosmetic upgrade of the previous models, however, as most of the machine has been re-designed. The frame is smaller and lighter than on previous models making it easier to move around, but the manufacturer claims that the treadmills renowned stability and solidity has been retained.

The Smooth 5.65 is a space saver or folding treadmill that incorporates a "Soft Drop", shock-assisted manual folding design that folds up and out of the way when you're done. When your ready to workout again it can be softly dropped back into place and it's ready for use.

The Smooth 5.65 has more programs compared to its predecessors with a total of 14 inbuilt workouts. These programs are split into, Manual, Speed, Incline, Custom, Distance, and Heart Rate Control groups.

There are now handrail mounted toggle switches, making it easier to control the speed and incline and a heart rate control feature that allows you to exercise within your optimal training zone. A built in sound system allows for the connection of an iPOD or MP3 player.

The Smooth 5.65 utilizes a powerful 2.5 HP Continuous Duty Motor which has been engineered for a long life. The motor uses a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) circuit board more typically found on commercial treadmills which along with speed sensors ensure smooth speed changes. The makers claim that the motor operates virtually noise-free.

The conveniently positioned Hand Grip Pulse Monitors located on the handlebars are supplemented by the optional chest strap which provides the advantage of taking readings of your heart rate and feeding them back to the treadmill console by wireless telemetry.

When this program is selected the "Heart Rate Control" feature of this treadmill automatically adjusts the intensity of your workout in accordance with your heart rate which is fed back via the grip pulse monitor or via the optional wireless telemetry strap so that you are always in the optimum target fitness zone.

The Smooth 6.75 has toggle switches built in to the handrail to enable the user to adjust both the the speed and incline. Using these handrail mounted switches allows the user to make the necessary adjustments without having to reach forward to press buttons on the control console and possibly disrupt their stride.

The Smooth 5.65 incorporates a 20" wide running belt. In fact this is the same size belt as Smooth's most expensive treadmill. Other treadmills in this price sometimes have narrower belts - you will appreciate the advantages of this larger running space when you come to use the treadmill.

The Smooth 5.65 has a large Blue Back Lit LCD Display. This Back light LCD display will show the speed, time, distance, incline, calories burned, heart rate and other workout data to the user.

5 Incline Programs - these programs automatically modify the level of incline of the deck.

Integrated into the treadmill's console, this sound system allows you to plug your iPOD, or MP3 Player, into auxiliary input jack and listen to your music collection through the sound system. The Smooth 5.65 has a built in two speed workout fan. You can adjust the settings of the fan from the console to enable you to stay cool and fresh during your workout and reach your goals faster.

The Smooth 5.65 is a space saver or folding treadmill. This means that when you have finished your workout it can be folded into a near vertical position where it will then occupy a lot less space.

The folding feature is fitted with a Dual-Stage, Soft Drop Folding mechanism. This gas shock-assist lift allows you to gently tilt the deck into position and wheel it away for storage. When you want to use the treadmill it can be softly dropped back into place and it's ready to go.
